Spain enters the arena…

Whilst Spain may be newcomers into the 2025 competition, the buzz around the WBC has been rife across the nation for many years with Spanish butchers keeping a watching eye on past competitions. Cedecarne who have organised the team selection and management are also a part of the International Butcher’s Association and they say there were plenty discussions around the WBC with European colleagues which peaked their interest.

For the Spanish team being a part of the WBC is about enhancing the profession and attracting young people into it, and they have high expectations about what the WBC can deliver in that space.

Whilst they say the first time competing will be their biggest challenge, tackling nerves and keeping to the time limit is also top of mind. With over 58,000 trade professionals in Spain, having a national butcher’s team to represent the craft is a huge honour for those in the team.

The Spanish reckon the standard of all teams is incredibily high but they state France and Germany, having won the last challenge, as the teams to beat in 2025.

Spanish people are very creative and artistic and we work with meat differently than other countries. So, we will bring a point of difference to the arena.
