7 reasons you should enter the 2020 World Butchers’ Challenge
1. You’ve got something to prove
Reckon you have the best butchers in the world? Then show up and claim it. The World Butchers’ Challenge is growing at rapid speed and the interest from not just industry but media and the general public is forever doubling. We don’t call it the ‘Olympics of meat’ for no reason.
2. You want to take your career to the next level
When you first embarked on your journey as a butcher, did you ever expect you would have the chance to represent your country with your craft? Regardless of the answer, representing your nation is a game changer in any field. Add that to the CV or the shop window and watch further opportunities rush in.
3. The comradery
Yes - it’s a competition. And yes – come game day, the knives are out. But equally we’ve seen the most solid friendships and business relationships built via this competition. Butchers and business owners turned mates travelling the world to learn and share with each other – what’s not to love about that!
4. You want to get richer
We don’t think there’s been anyone who has participated in the World Butchers’ Challenge, in some shape of form, that hasn’t taken a multitude of ideas back to their own stores. Each country does things so very differently and we assure you, inspiration will be at an all-time high.
5. Sacramento
If you haven’t visited the city before, you really need an excuse to get there. The people, the food, the culture, the atmosphere… it is somewhere we’d never thought we’d end up and somewhere we now look forward to visiting many more times. In the words of Visit Sacramento CEO, Mike Testa – “We really don’t need to sell the city, it does that itself.”
6. It’s one heck of a meat fest
We’re going to take a punt here. You love meat. Well this is an absolute meat galore like no other. In addition to the competitions itself, you’ll be surrounded by like-minded ‘meat-addicted’ individuals and have the opportunity to sample some world-class, innovative meat meals. We’re not just about the raw variety!
7. FOMO.
Here’s one for the younger lot out there. And for those who don’t know what FOMO is, google it and also fear it. The advent of Instagram stories means that “out of sight, out of mind” doesn’t cut it anymore and we guarantee you’ll wish you booked that flight to be among the action yourself.
