WBC welcome Anago as newest partner

Following the biggest news of 2023, being the announcement of the next World Butchers’ Challenge (WBC) to take place in Paris, March 3—31 2025, we are proud to share we have welcomed a new partner onboard.

Anago Limited shares a similar background to the WBC, having been born out of New Zealand from a vision to improve the overall quality and success of the sector. That vision, being something that was much bigger than just a national concept, quickly grew to become a global movement.

Anago invented and commercialized knife sharpness testing technology that has been instrumental in the improvement of knife sharpness levels and sharpening skills throughout the world.

As a direct result of using the feedback from the technology, those using Anago products have reported:

  • Increasing knife sharpness by 2x,  reducing the force required to cut by at least 50%

  • Reduction of overuse injuries by 80%

  • Increase the cuts per minute by 30%

  • Increase the production yield by 1%

  • A return on investment within 3 months

Anago General Manager, Stephen Barnett, says the partnership with the WBC was a perfect fit when it came to aligning objectives and visions.

Anago is proud to be associated with the World Butchers’ Challenge. Since 1999 Anago has been developing a measurement system for sharpness, as having a sharp knife that lasts the distance is important in butchery to reduce injury, prevent overuse injuries to the butcher while maintaining a consistent clean cut.

Likewise, WBC CEO, Ashley Gray says being able to share innovations via partnerships and collaborations is an important part of building the WBC community and legacy.

The success of our sector, and the people within it, is what drives the WBC team to do what we do. Partnering with those who have similar goals and an intent to better the industry, such as Anago, is something we’re really passionate about.

Anago will have a presence across WBC activity moving forward and will be represented at the next WBC in Paris 2025.
